Ethical OOTD: Your Everyday Sustainable Dress

June 28, 2017

Hi all! I have finally gotten around to doing an ethical outfit post, which I’ve wanted to do for a while now! While this outfit post isn’t entirely sustainable or ethical brands, each outfit I share I’ll focus more on that element. This is a fun way for me to share brands I have been loving, so for this post I am excited to be collaborating with Marie Hell! My OOTD includes a simple, yet classic sustainable dress made by the brand!

About the Brand

Marie Hell is a sustainable fashion brand focusing on minimalistic yet edgy pieces. Made in the U.S., they implement ethical manufacturing and are also made with natural fibers. On top of focusing on sustainability in their production, their brand specializes in classics that don’t adhere to in-the-moment trends. This is a plus because you can add a piece to your wardrobe that won’t be out of style in a couple months!

Here I’ve styled their Spike Tunic a few different ways! I love the simplicity of the dress and how it can be styled many different ways. Not only is this a sustainable dress, it’s one that will last many seasons!

Get the Look

To get this look check out Marie Hell’s Spike Tunic or some of their many similar pieces. While my other accessories aren’t sustainable, ethical alternatives can be easily found! I paired the dress with a denim jacket, which you can find secondhand in a thrift store or on Depop or Poshmark! For similar ethically made hats, I would also suggest Equal Uprise.

Overall, I’d highly recommend checking out Marie Hell and the other brands mentioned in this post! I’m definitely looking forward to more ethical outfit posts and styling different sustainable brands.

The Fab Collective: Social Networking for Sustainable Fashion

June 21, 2017

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted an It Girl Series, but I’m back with a really great interview. I connected with Alex of The Fab Collective a while back and I loved what she was working on. She had seen a need in the sustainable fashion industry for networking and collaboration. And thus, The Fab Collective was born.

I could go on for days about sustainable fashion and The Fab Collective, but I figured an interview with Alex herself would be better. So I’m happy to say this week’s It Girl Series features Alex Popov so we can learn more about her company and where it’s headed!

When/why did you start getting interested in ethical fashion?

In the summer of 2016, I was working with small, emerging fashion brands as a freelance photographer in my hometown, Budapest. As I was working closely with them, my interest in sustainable and ethical fashion was instantly kindled. I’ve been a vegan for a couple of years now, and always tried to be as aware and conscious as possible, so it definitely sparked an interest in me even though fashion hasn’t been at the center of my life before that at all.

Fair Trade Accessories with Fair Anita

June 19, 2017

Hi all, I’ve been attempting to post a brand spotlight at the beginning of each month but have been totally failing. So despite it being more than half way through June, it’s time for another sustainable (in this case ethical) spotlight!! This month I’m excited to feature a brand I’ve mentioned before, Fair Anita. I’ve been following Fair Anita since the beginning of my ethical fashion journey and I’ve always admired what they stand for. I’ve also love their fair trade accessories so I was so excited when they reached out to me about collaborating. They sent me these beautiful earrings, and I wanted to share a bit more about the brand as well as my other faves!

10 Sustainable Swimwear Brands

April 22, 2017

HAPPY EARTH DAY! It’s officially been a year since I first starting blogging, which feels crazy. I went on a hike this morning and it was so sunny out I thought it was time to do a post about swimwear! I’ve been wanting to share sustainable swimwear brands for a while now, and I feel like it’s finally justifiable to do so.

I have always struggled finding swimwear that I actually like. Surprisingly ever since I’ve started focusing on sustainable swimwear brands, I’ve had no trouble finding bathing suits. I mentioned a suit I’ve been wanting in my March Favorites post, but wanted to share several more options as well. So here are ten sustainable swimwear brands for you to check out!

Hot as Hell

California based brand Hot as Hell is constantly working to reduce waste and remain an eco-friendly business. They use printing processes that reduce water consumption and fabric waste. HAH also uses innovative and eco-friendly fabric to extend the clothing’s life cycle. My three favorites for festival wear are this lace crop top, lace bodysuit, and floral maxi.
